“Ghostbusters: Afterlife” is a family film that should please young and old fans of the original films. Directed and written by Jason Reitman, the movie strikes the right balance between nostalgia, thrills, and humor. Sony’s disc looks and sounds great.
“Invaders of the Lost Gold” features a strange mishmash of stars past their prime working in the Phillipines on an adventure film from producer Dick Randall. Severin Films has given the film a great looking release that will please fans and perplex casual viewers!
“G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” has not aged particularly well, but still will appeal to young kids. Paramount has given the film a 4K UHD release in conjunction with the release of “Snake Eyes.”
“Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” is the most underrated film in the series. While it divided critics and audiences, it has stood the test of time. The 4K UHD is a big leap forward.
“Raiders of the Lost Ark” is still the greatest adventure film ever made. The new 4K UHD included in Paramount’s box set is an excellent upgrade and should be owned by all filmlovers. It has never looked better.
“The Final Countdown” is an enjoyable science fiction film that benefits from a remarkable cast and some truly fantastic visual moments. Fans of “The Twilight Zone” should take note of the film. Blue Underground’s UHD release is visually stunning for the most part and features an excellent Atmos track.
“Mission: Impossible” stands out in the series dues to the visionary direction by Brian De Palma. The 4K UHD presentation of the film uses HDR to the film’s benefit in its best presentation since its theatrical release.
Paramount Pictures have given “Mission: Impossible” a remastered Blu-ray that is a big improvement over the 2007 Blu-ray. Fans who lack a 4K player will want to consider a purchase.
“Dark of the Sun” is an absolute blast of a war based adventure film. Rod Taylor and Jim Brown lead a cast that will please fans of “The Dirty Dozen.” The Warner Archive release is well worth picking up.
