“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” earns our highest recommendation. George Miller has returned to the Australian Wastelands of the Mad Max universe to deliver a truly colossal revenge picture that is also a perfect prequel to “Fury Road.” Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth both excel in the film.
Warner has gone the extra mile to present “The Mask of Fu Manchu” in its original ludicrous and racially problematic grandeur. Boris Karloff and Mirna Loy shine in one of the most over-the-top pre-code pictures.
“Deep Impact” came out 25 years ago. The ensemble film is a product of its time that looks at crisis through a hopeful pre-9/11 gaze. Paramount has given the film a solid UHD presentation.
“Cloverfield” was destined to be a cult film. Its experimental narrative techniques set it apart from other creature features and other films in general. Paramount’s handsome steelbook edition brings the best out of the film in 4K.
“Nightmare at Noon” is a fun – if flawed – action film from Nico Mastorakis. Fans of the film will be happy to see that Arrow has improved the video and audio for this release.
“Disturbing Behavior” is one of the least convincing teenage horror films from the crop of late Nineties horror that sprung from the success of “Scream.” It is also one of the most entertaining. MVD Rewind has given the film a Blu-ray release.
MVD Rewind has teamed with 88 Films to bring the 1997 action film “Drive” to 4K UHD. Boasting a new Atmos track and HDR, the film has never looked or sounded better.
Joel Schumacher’s “Flatliners” has been given a significant 4K UHD upgrade by Arrow Video with color grading approved by cinematographer Jan de Bont. It is far and away the best way to experience the film.
