“Conclave” is either a masterpiece or a film that falls apart in its final act. It is sure to inspire good conversations and debates amongst those who view it. Universal has given the film a fantastic looking 4K release.
Warner Archive have given “The Return of Doctor X” an attractive Blu-ray release. This is a curio because it is the only science-fiction horror film to feature Humphrey Bogart.
”The Hitcher” was misunderstood by critics, but it is one of the best thrillers of the Eighties. Featuring one of the great villain performances by Rutger Hauer, the film is now on 4K!
“Journey Into Fear” is a somewhat less successful collaboration between Joseph Cotten and Orson Welles which has been beautifully restored by Warner Archive.
MGM has given the final J.Lee Thompson/ Charles Bronson collaboration “Kinjite: Forbidden Subjects” a Blu-ray release. It’s a mess of a film that will mostly appeal to Bronson and Cannon Pictures completists.
“Tchao Pantin” is another fantastic discovery by Radiance Films. This French neo-noir from 1983 features excellent performances, great direction by Claude Berri, and wonderful cinematography by Bruno Nuytten. Highly recommended!
Shout! Factory has given the Seventies revenge classic “Rolling Thunder” a definitive 4K UHD release. The film has aged like fine wine due to John Flynn’s down and dirty direction of a script with conflicting visions from Paul Schrader and Heywood Gould. William Devane is great in the lead role.
