Shane Black’s “The Nice Guys” is one of my favorite movies of the last decade. Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe have great chemistry as mismatched partners working a case. Warner has released a 4K UHD.
The last Yakuza picture by the unrivaled master of the genre Kinji Fukasaku, “Hokuriku Proxy War” has been given a Blu-ray release by Radiance Films. The film is as cool as sake, suits, guns, and sunglasses.
”The Hitcher” was misunderstood by critics, but it is one of the best thrillers of the Eighties. Featuring one of the great villain performances by Rutger Hauer, the film is now on 4K!
MGM has given the final J.Lee Thompson/ Charles Bronson collaboration “Kinjite: Forbidden Subjects” a Blu-ray release. It’s a mess of a film that will mostly appeal to Bronson and Cannon Pictures completists.
“Game Night” is one of the funniest comedies of the past decade. The ensemble cast features Jason Bateman, Rachel McAdams, Kyle Chandler, Lamorne Morris, Kylie Bunbury, and Jesse Plemons. Warner’s 4K UHD is an enjoyable if slight upgrade.
Starring Denzel Washington, “The Mighty Quinn” is a breezy entertainment that benefits from the Caribbean locations. MGM Studios has given the 1989 film a Blu-ray release.
Sony Pictures has given the Chris Farley vehicle “Beverly Hills Ninja” a strong Blu-ray presentation that should please fans of what is arguably Farley’s weakest film.
Eureka Entertainment has given the Golden Harvest produced Hong Kong political thriller “A Queen’s Ransom” a release that will make collectors proud. George Lazenby leads a cast of A-grade Hong Kong stars.
Shout! Factory has given “Willy’s Wonderland” a 4K release. Nic Cage battles possessed animatronics while paying off a car debt in the picture.
